Welcome to the red jacket society

City Year’s Red Jacket Society is a community of philanthropic individuals and families who believe in the power of the red jacket.  Red Jacket Society commitments of $10,000 or more directly make possible the work of City Year AmeriCorps members each and every day.

Red Jacket Society members believe that the red jacket is more than a uniform: it’s a little bit of magic. It brings hope and inspiration, caring and support. The red jacket means help is on the way.

Each quarter, we will post a new digital story created exclusively for Red Jacket Society members.  These stories will explore elements of our service through the eyes of City Year donors, AmeriCorps members, students, and schools.

We are thankful for our Red Jacket Society members who believe that every student can succeed.

City Year

City Year is dedicated to helping students and schools succeed. Founded in 1988, City Year partners with public schools in 28 urban, high-need communities across the U.S. and through international affiliates in the U.K. and Johannesburg, South Africa. Diverse teams of City Year AmeriCorps members provide high-impact student, classroom and school-wide supports to help students stay in school and on track to graduate from high school, ready for college and career success. A 2015 study shows that schools that partner with City Year were up to 2-3 times more likely to improve on math and English assessments. A proud member of the AmeriCorps national service network, City Year is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, local school districts, and private philanthropy from corporations, foundations and individuals.
